Pokemon Sun & Moon even more new Pokemon!

A new batch of Pokemon have been revealed for Sun & Moon! A trailer showcasing each of these was shown. With some other features shown as well.

The first of these new Pokemon was shown in CoroCoro last week. This is the Pokemon 'Mimikyu', it is the Disguise Pokemon, with the Ghost/Fairy type combination. It has the ability 'Disguise', a new ability that allows Mimikyu to escape damage from an attack just once.

The official site states

'Mimikyu lives its life completely covered by its cloth and is always hidden. People believe that anybody who sees its true form beneath the cloth will be stricken with a mysterious illness. People in the Alola region are convinced that you must never try to peek beneath its covering. Mimikyu's health fails when it's bathed in rays of the sun, so it prefers to stick to dark places. It's rumoured that the reason it covers itself with a cloth is to avoid sunlight.

The rising popularity of Pikachu-styled merchandise around 20 years ago is the reason that Mimikyu makes itself look like Pikachu. In fact, this Pokemon is dreadfully lonely, and it thought it would be able to makes friends with humans if only it looked like Pikachu.

Mimikyu's Pikachu-like appearance is due to its Disguise ability. In order to resemble Pikachu, this Pokemon makes patterens that look like eyes and a mouth appear on regular scrap of cloth'

Next up is the second Pokemon revealed in CoroCoro, this is the Strong Arm Pokemon 'Bewear', it is a Normal/Fighting type Pokemon with the abilities, Klutz or a Fluffy. A new ability that halves the damage taken from attacks that make direct contact, but it doubles the damage from Fire type moves.

The official site states

'When Bewear is acting in a friendly fashion, just swinging its arms around, you must never dare to approach it carelessly. It is acknowledged to be a dangerous Pokemon, even within the Alola region. You may see warning signs posted near places it resides.

When Bewear grows fond of its Trainer, it may show that feeling in a fond embrace - but the force of that hug is tremendous! Trainers must teach these Pokemon how to restrain their strength when showing affection.

Some wild Bewear use amazing martial-arts moves. Apparently the Pokemon learn these moves by watching Black Belts practising when they go'out to train in the woods.

Bewear's arms and legs are strong and highly developed. Its powerful spine enables it to lift objects weighing a ton or more. It loves to give crushing bear hugs - a tight hug from this Pokemon's arms will split anything at all in two!'

Next up is the Turn Tail Pokemon, 'Wimpod', it is Bug/Water type. A combination only used by Surskit back in Generation 3. This scaredy little Pokemon has the new ability 'Wimp Out' where it will run away or switch out for another Pokemon when its HP falls below half.

The official site states

'Wimpod have a cowardly nature and are wary of noises and sudden movements. If you approach them in a group, they'll immediately run off. When Wimpod feel threatened, they spit out a poisonous liquid. The stench of this toxic fluid signals others that danger is near. Despite their extreme cowardice, their curiosity leads Wimpod to approach people or Pokemon that are standing still.

Wimpod eat and store anything they find fallen on the ground. They also scavenge any garbage that's been dropped in the sea, so they're highly valued cleaners. They sometimes carry pearls or other valuable items, so humans or Pokemon like Murkrow may target them.

Next is the Fruit Pokemon, 'Bounsweet'. This is a pure Grass type Pokemon and comes with the abilities of Leaf Guard or Oblivious.

The official site states

'Because it exudes a delicious smell from its entire body, Bounsweet is popular with Pokemon and people of the Alola region. Bounsweet's scent has a calming effect on humans, so many people let them live inside their homes as a sort of air freshener. Unfortunately, it's sometimes swalloed whole by Pokemon drawn to its aroma.

When running away from other Pokemon, Bounsweet flees danger by skipping along the ground. Since its bouncy movements don't convey to others that it's actually in desparate flight, no one ever comes to its aid.

When attacked by enemies, it drives them off by rotating the calyx on its head. The downside is how dizzy it gets afterwards!'

The fifth Pokemon revealed is the Posy Picker Pokemon, 'Comfey'. This Pokemon is a pure Fairy type and it resembles the Hawaiian flower necklaces. It comes with the abilities of Flower Veil and the new ability 'Triage', which gives restorative moves gain the highest priority in battle.

The official site states

'Comfey picks flowers and always carries them around. It makes a ring of blossoms and spreads oil from its body on it, which changes the flowers so they emit a soothing fragrance. It has a habit of giving these flower rings to those it's fond of. The aroma can soothe both itself and its allies. Comfey also helps with the treatment of people and Pokemon at Pokemon Centres and hospitals, thanks to its aroma.

When attacked by other Pokemon, it throws its flowers and them to create an opening, and then it either flees or strikes back.'

The sixth and final Pokemon revealed is the Draft Horse Pokemon, 'Mudsdale'. This is a pure ground type Pokemon with the abilities of either Own Tempo or a new ability 'Stamina', this allows its defence to increase by 1 every time it is hit by an attack. It gets the attack 'Highhorse power', a new ground type attack.

The official site states

'Mudsdale is known for its powerful body as well as its emotional fortitude, which keeps it from being agitated by anything. It never cries out, no matter what kind of trouble it's in, and it defeats its opponents with a single powerful blow. Its legs are coated in protective mud, and the weight of this coating increases the force of its kicks. One kock, and a car is a pile of scrap!

Mudsdale's running speed is not too swift, but it has excellent power and stamina. It can carry on for three days and three nights despite dragging loads of over 10 tons!

When mudsdale gallops in earnest, the power of each hoof-clop can dig out huge holes, even in asphalt. Mudsdale is forbidden to run on some of Alola's public roads.'

Along with these 6 brand new Pokemon, two other features were discussed in the trailer and on the official site.

The first is in regards to the Pokemon Global link. This feature will be ending its service for the Generation 6 games of 'X', 'Y', 'Omega Ruby' and 'Alpha Sapphire'. It will then be updated for Pokemon Sun & Moon with new features added for players to enjoy.

Not only will you be able to take part in the online competitions and live competitions. Players will be able to host their own friendly competitions. Players are able to create these competitions and set their own regulations for them. Friendly competitions come in two different styles but it does not say what they are, it allows players to recruit friends to enjoy climactic battles.

The final feature discussed is the new 'Hyper Training' feature, which has never been done in a Pokemon game before. This allows the player to increase the individual strengths of a Pokemon that has reached level 100! Increasing their stats whilst not being able to train them in EXP any further.

This new feature is done by Mr.Hyper, who is a man that loves to collect Bottle Caps. If you bring them to him, he will train your Pokemon via Hyper Training. It does not state where Mr.Hyper is located.

The final point they make on Hyper Training, is that the Magearna the players can obtain will be holding a Bottle Cap. As mentioned above, Mr.Hyper will only assist the player if they have bottle caps.

Pokemon Sun & Moon will be out November this year, 18th for US and Japan, 23rd for Europe.

What do you think to these new Pokemon? What version of Sun & Moon will you be getting?

Pokemon Sun & Moon New Pokemon

A new Pokemon has been revealed for Sun & Moon at Japan Expo by Junichi Masuda. Meet Salandit! The Toxic Lizard Pokemon. This Pokemon is the first Poison/Fire type to the series, it also comes with the new ability 'Corrosion'. This ability lets Salandit poison any type of Pokemon including Poison and Steel, which are both naturally immune to this status ailment.

In looks, Salandit has a bandit appearance as its name suggests. It appears to have a mask over its head that has two extrusions from the base of its neck. This gives the appearance that it is tied on. It also has the appearance of gloves on all its feet.  From part way up its back to the tip of its tail, it has a red symbol that may link to its fire typing.

The official site states.

'Salandit emits toxic gas, together with flames, from the base of its tail. This poisonous gas has a sweet smell, and anyone who unknowingly breathes it in will become dizzy. Salandit is not a very powerful Pokemon, but its cunning nature allows it to battle fiercely by throwing its opponents off balance.

Salandit females not only release toxic gases, they can also emit pheromones that attract males of all species, including Pokemon and humans. Inhaling these pheromones may cause opponents to be controlled by Salandit's will.'

A trailer was shown for this Pokemon. Showcasing its new ability on a Zubat and Skarmory. It also uses two fire based moves on Komala and Rockruff but it is not clear what they are.

Pokemon Sun & Moon Guardians theory

Pokemon is a series that has always brought a variety of lore to it from around the world, especially for its Legendary Pokemon. A lot of these Pokemon are based on myths and legends from different countries and religions, where they are theorised to be a representation of that lore.

For instance one theory is that the three Legendary Pokemon of Generation 6 are based on the legend of Yggdrasil from Norse Mythology. The Destruction Pokemon Yveltal supposedly represents Veðrfölnir, a Hawk that resides in the branches of Yggdrasil. The Life Pokemon Xerneas who possibly represents the four stags Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór that reside at the base of Yggdrasil, and eat among the branches. And the Order Pokemon Zygarde who's 50% forme may have a basis on Níðhöggr, a dragon who gnaws at the roots of Yggdrasil.

Another theory is that Yveltal is Hræsvelgr a giant eagle who sits at the end of the world, Xerneas is Eikþyrnir a stag that sits atop Valhalla and Zygarde is Jörmungandr a serpent that encircles the earth. Again all centred around legends from Norse Mythology.

With Pokemon Sun & Moon being based on Hawaii, and confirmation that each of the four islands of the new Alola region has a Guardian Pokemon. Here are some theories as to what these Guardian Pokemon may be based on.

As of last week the Pokemon Tapu Koko was revealed as the first Guardian Pokemon of the Alola region. It is the guardian of the first island the player begins on called 'Melemele', which is Hawaiian for Yellow. Looking at the design of Tapu Koko shows it has a Hawaiian Totem look to it, which is a theme that could be shared throughout the other three Guardians. Keeping a similar body shape and the Fairy type but changing the Animal Totem, primary type, colour scheme and Terrain ability for each guardian.

With the feathered look on its head, the bird like totem attached to its arms, the beak like hands and the current information known about this Pokemon. It is possible that Tapu Koko could be based on the great God 'Kū' or 'Kūkaʻilimoku'. Kū is the god of war and the 'Seizer of Lands'. He was the only God that had sacrifices made to him, notably human sacrifices.

Kū is often represented by feathered images, which may be a reason as to why Tapu Koko has the bird like Totem head attached to it. This is especially noticeable when it is closed.

It may be possible that Tapu Koko is based on Kū for these reasons. Pokemon battles are offered as praise to this Pokemon, and maybe it is Pokemon universes form of offerings to their Gods and Guardians.

It is also interesting to note that Tapu Koko is the Guardian of MeleMele with that translating to yellow. Its colour scheme is heavily focused around it, and it is of the Electric type which is often represented by the colour yellow in some form on their bodies.

Each Island of Alola is supposedly represented by a colour, which can be seen in the form of a Rainbow on Professor Kukui's hat and various concept pictures of the region. The colours are Red, Blue, Green and Yellow. This could possibly be a homage to the Generation 1 games with it being the twentieth anniversary. With that, could the other Islands be called 'Polu', Hawaiian for Blue. 'UlaUla', Hawaiian for Red. And 'OmaOma', Hawaiian for Green? As the first Island is the Hawaiian for Yellow. This could also be a link to the real world Hawaii as it is known as the Rainbow State.

With Tapu Koko being the Guardian of MeleMele, its colour scheme being yellow and the possibility of it being based on the Great God Kū. Here are some other possibilities and theories as to what the other three guardians could be based on, and on which Island they could appear.

The Green Island - Lono
One of the Great Gods of Hawaii. Lono is the Hawaiian God of Agriculture and rain, he appears in the wet season known as 'Ho'olio' bringing rain clouds and winter storms. The rains he brings keep the lands fertile, full of life and lush vegetation. He is believed to be the God who is hidden in dark clouds, helping the land without being seen.

Legends state that Lono is the being that is responsible for cultivating the plant life on Hawaii, making it look as it appears today. This adds more to the belief of him being the God of Agriculture. He is also associated with the 'Makahiki Celebration'. A time where the hard work of farming and working with the land is celebrated.

This God is represented by many forms of plants and animals. One that has stood out in various legends of Lono is that he takes the form of a 'Pua'a Hiwa', an all black Pig. The dark rain clouds that sit atop of mountains are sometimes called 'Ke Ao Pua'a', which translates to Pig Clouds. This could be a representation of Lono's form.

If one of the Guardians is chosen to represent Lono, then it could have a Pig based Totem. To go with the theory that the clouds on top of the mountains are known as Pig Clouds. Not only that but it could also be of the Grass type with Lono being the God of Agriculture, making it a Grass/Fairy type and giving it a green colour scheme. Due to Tapu Koko having the ability 'Electric Surge' that activates Electric Terrain when it comes into battle. It is possible that a Guardian based on Lono could have an ability that activates Grassy Terrain when it appears in battle. Once again adding to theme of agriculture and cultivating the lands.

The Blue Isalnd - Kanaloa
The third of the Great Gods. Kanaloa is the God of the Oceans, long distance voyages and healing. Compared to the other Gods there is not as much information on him. It is said that Kanaloa is the ocean itself, his body makes up all the waters of the sea. He is often described as a companion to Kāne who is the other of the Four Great Gods.

Kanaloa has many land based forms but due to his association with the Ocean, he is primarily seen as a Cephalopod like an Octopus or Squid. Other forms he has been referenced as are a 'Nai'a' which is a Dolphin and a 'Koholā' which is a Whale.

The island of 'Kaho'olawe' is an island that serves as a centre for learning open sea navigation and many healing practices. Due to this it is often named Kanaloa as a reference to the Great God.

If there is a Guardian Pokemon based on this God, then it is possible that its Totem could be based on a Dolphin, a Whale or some form of Cephalopod. With its primary type being Water as a representation of that fact that Kanaloa is the God of the Oceans. Making its type Water/Fairy and giving it a blue colour scheme. Whilst Tapu Koko has Electric Terrain and a possible Guardian based on Lono could have Grassy Terrain. This only leaves Misty Terrain for Kanaloa, which is a Fairy type move. This could fit the theme of the Oceans creating mists and fogs by having this Terrain ability, or they may create a new terrain that focuses on the water type. However due to the ability Drizzle this may not be the case, but a Guardian based on Kanaloa could have Drizzle to add to its water theme.

The Blue or Red Island - Kāne
The final of the Great Gods. Kāne is said to play a major role in everyday Hawaiian life as he is the force that sustains life in all its forms. He is said to be the sunlight, the fresh water and the food. He is the force of nature that brings life. He is the God of Procreation and Life.

As mentioned above Kāne and Kanaloa are often described as companions in their mythology. Both create water sources, they travelled around the islands together and opened up new springs which are still flow to this day. Providing life for many generations on all of the different islands of Hawaii. They are often paired in stories where they build fishponds and end famine. Kāne also represents light in the form of the sun, thus he is also known as 'Kānehoalani' which means the sun.

No animal form was found for Kāne as he mainly appears as the sun, fresh water, rainbows and other forms that do not have a physical body.

If there is to be a Guardian based on Kāne, it is difficult to know what its Totem could be with no animal representing him. However there are couple of possible types it could have. The first is that due to their companionship Kāne may be used instead of Kanaloa as Water/Fairy type. The other possibility is Fire/Fairy due to his link to the Sun, which would give it a red colour scheme. Like Kanaloa this Guardian could have Misty terrain, a new water terrain or Drizzle if it were to follow the water theme. If it were to follow the fire theme it would have to have a new terrain ability as there were only three introduced into Generation 6. This could be something as simple as Fiery Terrain, or due to Kāne's link to sunlight it could get the Drought ability. However this could counteract Kāne's links to creating water sources.

The Red Island - Pele
Due to the possibility of Kāne not having an animal representation or possibly being used instead of Kanaloa. A second option was found in the form of the Goddess of the Volcano Pele. She is a well known Goddess in Hawaiian lore, as she is said to be associated with the natural forces of volcanic eruptions that add new lands to the whole of Hawaii.

Like Kāne she does not have an animal form. Instead she is represented by Lava, fire, flames and other forces. However some legends state that she appears in dreams in the form of a woman in the prime of her life, dressed in white.

This is interesting because of a new character to appear in Pokemon Sun & Moon called 'Lillie'. This character is a young girl who appears in white clothing and seems very different compared to other characters revealed for the games so far. Not only that but on her official reveal she was described as 'Kukui's mysterious assistant'. Lillie is said to dislike battling but loves to read.

It may be strange to think that one of the Guardian Pokemon could be this character in human form. But with her design standing out compared to the other characters, she does not seem to not match the Hawaiian theme and she may come from another region. This is also interesting because the Goddess Pele is also said to have come from far away. The fact she is also described as mysterious, may mean she has more involvement in the plot than just being the Professors assistant. She may be a human representation of Pele. On top of this it was confirmed at the Nintendo Tree House event at E3, that she has some form of Pokemon living in her bag. This could be the Guardian Pokemon of the Volcano, if they are choosing to go down that route. However this is just a possible theory based on the description of Lillie.

If that was the case, then it would be unknown what the Totem for this Guardian would be. however it would most definitely be a Fire/Fairy type with the association of Volcanoes. Giving it a red colour scheme to match it. If it is indeed based on Pele, it could get a terrain move like Kāne called Fiery Terrain or maybe Volcanic Terrain to aid in its fire typing. Drought wouldn't make more sense for this Guardian.

With Pokemon Sun & Moon coming November this year. It will be interesting to see if the Guardian theory is a possible representation of the major Gods of Hawaii. However with Tapu Koko being the only one revealed so far it is impossible to say with 100% certainty. Whatever legend and lore they are based on it will be one that fits the theme of the Alola Region perfectly.

Pokemon Sun & Moon information run down

New information regarding Pokemon has been revealed today. Going over each Pokemon in detail, as well as finally giving the names of the two Pokemon revealed in CoroCoro a few weeks ago. A trailer with some new information was also included as well as an update on the Sun & Moon website.

Starting off with Tapu Koko, it has been revealed to be the 'Land Spirit Pokemon' with the ability Electric Surge that adds Electric Terrain as soon as it comes into battle. It has a move called Nature's Madness that halves the opponent's HP. The official website gives this description of the Guardian of Melemele.

'Tapu Koko is a special Pokemon that protects the area where it lives. It's called the guardian deity of Melemele Island, one of the islands of the Alola region. Although it's known as a guardian deity, it's a surprisingly fickle Pokemon, and will not necessarily come to your aid if you need help.

Despite that, this Pokemon has a strong sense of curiosity. If it becomes interested in a person or in other Pokemon, it may come to play or battle with them.

Tapu Koko can store up electricity by enclosing itself in the shells on its arms. And it also appears to enter this form during other, special times...'

The first of the two Pokemon revealed in CoroCoro has been revealed to be called Rockruff, it is the 'Puppy Pokemon' with the abilities of either Keen Eye or Vital Spirit. This Pokemon has also been confirmed to evolve at least once via its description on the main website.

'Rockruff has an excellent sense of smell, and once it has smelled an odour, it doesn't forget it! There are tales of these Pokemon getting separated from their Trainers, then using the faintest traces of their scent to track them for days until they are reunited!

Rockruff is a sociable Pokemon, but as it grows, its disposition gets wilder. If it beings to howl when the sun goes down, that is proof that it's close to evolving. It's said that it leaves its Trainer's side to evolve and returns again when fully evolved.

Rockruff greet others by rubbing the rocks around their necks against the other. This grating greeting is an expression of fondness, but a Trainer may find that love hurts.'

The second of the two Pokemon revealed in CoroCoro has been revealed to be called Komala, it is the 'Drowsing Pokemon' with the ability Comatose that prevents it from all status ailments except sleep. The official website describes it as.

'No one has ever seen a Komala awake. It eats, travels, and even battles while sound asleep! Its saliva can be used as medicine for the sick or sleepless, according to ancient people. They say if you take a small amount of the saliva remaining after it eats leaves, water the saliva down, and drink it, you'll be able to sleep well.

Komala clings to a log pillow that its parents have given to it. Once it has grasped this log, it almost never releases it. If it does lose hold of its log, the Pokemon will be unable to sleep well and will thrash about wildly. Apparently it will sometimes cling to the arm of a Trainer it trusts.

The ever-sleeping Komala's expression sometimes changes, as if it has awareness of its surroundings and the talking of people nearby. But it appears that these changes in expression are actually just a result of the dreams it's experiencing.'

Charjabug has been confirmed to be the 'Battery Pokemon' with the new ability Battery that increases the power of ally Pokemon's special moves. It is able to learn the move spark. The official site states.

'Charjabug stays perfectly still in preparation for Evolution, and often spends time with its body half-buried in the earth. Charjabug is able to store up electricity. It can store enough power to run a household for a whole day. The power it stores can be provided to other Pokemon, so it can also serve as a battery!'

Vikavolt is the 'Stag Beetle Pokemon' and is confirmed to have the ability Levitate to stop it being hit by ground type moves. It also has the move Zap Cannon. The official website states.

'Vikavolt is like a fortress that zooms through the forest, firing a beam of electricity from its mouth. Its huge jaws control the electricity it blasts out.

Vikavolt is adept at acrobatic flight maneuvers like tailspins and sharp turns. It can fly at high speeds even as it weaves its way through the complicated table of branches in the forest.

Vikavolt clasps Charjabug with its legs and uses it as an extra battery. Even if a battle drags on, it can use the electric power from Charjabug to continue firing off powerful moves. When Vikavolt is engaged in a fierce aerial fight, it releases Charjabug to make itself lighter and increase its mobility.'

The adorable Togedemaru is the 'Roly-Poly Pokemon', it has either the ability Lightning Rod or Iron Barbs. It is able to learn the move Discharge. The official site states.

'Togedemaru is the Roly-Poly Pokemon that gathers electricity and stores it. The long needle that grows from the back of its head works as a lightning rod to attract electricity. With this reservoir of electrical energy, Togedemaru is able to release powerful Electric-type attacks!

Covering its body is a pattern of fur with strands like needles. The means that Togedemaru can roll itself up, and presto-it's a ball of prickles!

Some skilled Trainers have developed the strategy of getting other Pokemon to unleash Electric-type attacks on Togedemaru, which absorbs their power to use in a response attack!
On days when lightning strikes, you can sometimes see Togedemaru gather and bristle up their needles, waiting to be struck by lightning.'

Cutiefly is the 'Bee Fly Pokemon' and is based on a species of the same name. It comes with one of two abilities, either Honey Gather or Shield Dust. The official site states.

'Cutiefly can detect the auras of living things, including people, Pokemon, and plants. They search out flowers by the colour and brightness of their auras and then gather their nectar and pollen.

When living creatures are excited, it seems that their auras resemble those of flowers in full bloom. As a result, these Pokemon tend to gather near people or Pokemon feeling particularly happy or sad.

Cutiefly mostly live in the fields and meadows on the outskirts of cities, but they sometimes appear in towns and even inside buildings, drawn in by the emotions of the living beings of the community.'

Drampa is the 'Placid Pokemon' which it comes with one of two abilities, either Sap Sipper or the new ability Berserk that increases its special attack when its HP goes below 50%. The official site states.

'Drampa are dragons that live alone in the mountains 10,000 feet above sea level. Since they can't obtain the Berries they feed on at that range, they descend to the base of the mountains at dawn every day. Drampa love communicating with people and Pokemon.

Drampa are especially gentle with children and often appear at schools and parks where children gather.

While Drampa is usually a very gentle Pokemon, it can fly into a rage if a child it cares for is hurt in some way. The Dragon Breath move that it fires off at such times is powerful enough to blow down buildings!'

The final Pokemon is Bruxish which is the 'Gnash Teeth Pokemon. It has two abilities, Strong Jaw or the new ability Dazzling that prevents priority moves from working. The official site states.

'Bruxish emits a strong psychic power from the protuberance on its head. When its opponents are bathed in this power, they're stricken with terrible headaches and fall unconscious. As it emits its psychic power, it grinds its teeth loudly. When nearby Pokemon hear the sound of Bruxish's teeth gnashing, they sense danger and flee immediately.

In the Alola region, lifeguards let Bruxish remain in their area to prevent dangerous Water-type Pokemon from gathering there.

Bruxish digs holes in the seafloor, leaving just the protuberance on its head exposed, while emitting a low level of psychic power. This serves as a radar, so when it detects prey, it can leap to the attack!'

A trailer show casing all this information along with Zygarde's forms and some snazzy battle music was also released.

Not only this but many pre-release screenshots were shown, giving an indication of what the trade animation looks like, a look at the different environments of the Alola region. It also confirms the return of riding pokemon with a screenshot of someone riding a Stoutland.

The official site also gave this information.

'In the world of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, you'll discover moves more powerful than any seen before, adventures in uncharted locations, and many more delights just waiting to be explored! Get an early look at what's to come. More detailed information about the new features in Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon will be available soon.'

So keep checking back as any new information will be covered here!
